Investment in Great Hearts today will help strengthen organizational capacity and implement a strategic growth plan that will improve the quality of education in the region. Philanthropic investment in Great Hearts is highly leveraged because each charter school receives state funding as well. For instance, for every dollar invested in school start-up, the state will be directing approximately $15 in general funds to the school over the first five years.  Likewise, the per-student cost for school facilities across the network (lease or purchase) is a fraction of what is currently spent to construct large traditional public schools in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area.
 

Great Hearts seeks partners that are aligned with our goals and values. Multi-year commitments are ideal because they increase organizational stability, enable longer-term planning, and free the lead office to concentrate on the primary activities of serving the schools and maintaining accountability.

After the last school is opened, Great Hearts will enter its sustainable quality phase and will no longer depend on outside philanthropy. The schools and network will enter a steady state in which state funds and the internal giving program are sufficient for operation, as currently exists at its established schools.
